Harrison Ford & Melissa Mathison (2001)

Coming in as the 10th most expensive divorce, after 18 years of Marriage, Harrison Ford and his wife Melissa Mathison amicably divorced in August of 2001. Their divorce settlement amounted to $85 million paid to Melissa. There were also rumours that Melissa would receive a portion of any future earnings of movies Harrison Ford completed while married. What a deal!

Madonna and Guy Ritchie (2008)

The 8th most expensive celebrity divorce was between Madonna and Guy Ritchie. After eight years of marriage, the two stars divorced in December of 2008. The divorce settlement awarded Guy $92 million along with their country home in Ashcombe and their London Pub (Punchbowl).

Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving (1989)

In 1989 after four years of marriage, Steven Spielberg and Amye Irving called it quits. Despite a prenuptial agreement written on a napkin, the agreement was vacated, and Amy was paid a $100 million divorce settlement. Note to self, do not write a prenuptial agreement on a napkin.

Neil Diamond & Marcia Murphey (1994)

A talented singer song-writer marries a television producer. It’s a true Hollywood fairy-tale! Unfortunately this fairy-tale ended in divorce. After 25 years of marriage the couple filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Marcia received $150 million in divorce settlement. However, Neil did go on to say that she was “worth every penny”. What a gem!

Mel Gibson & Robyn Denise Moore (2011)

Coming in as the 2nd most expensive celebrity divorce, Mel Gibson and Robyn Denise Moore divorced after 26 years of marriage and seven children. As of December 2011, the divorce was finalised, with Robyn receiving a whopping $425 million divorce settlement. This amount was equivalent to half of Mel’s fortune. The couple did not have a pre-nuptial agreement, and therefore Robyn was entitled to half of his worth.

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis (2000)

After 10 years of marriage, and three children (Rumer, Scout LaRue and Tallulah Belle) Demi Moore and Bruce Willis divorced in October of 2000. The divorce settlement amounted to $90 million paid to Demi, and is therefore our 9th most expensive celebrity divorce.

Tiger Woods & Elin Nordegren (2010)

In August of 2010 after Tiger’s admission of infidelity, Tiger and Elin divorced after six years of marriage. Elin received a settlement amount of $100 million. Elin used $12 million of this to build herself a gorgeous new home. Good on her!

Garth Brooks & Sandy Mahl (2001)

High school sweethearts Garth Brooks and Sandy Mahl separated after 13 years of marriage. In December of 2001 the couple were officially divorced with Sandy receiving a large divorce settlement of $125 million, making this our 5th most expensive celebrity divorce!

Michael Jordan & Juanita Jordan (2006)

In 2006 after 17 years of marriage, Michael Jordon and Juanita Jordan called time-out on their marriage. The couple have three children together; Marcus, Jasmine and Jeffrey. The couple had previously filed for divorce in 2002, but withdrew it to continue working on their marriage. It clearly didn’t work, because the couple were officially divorced in 2006, with Juanita receiving a huge $168 million divorce settlement.

Rupert Murdoch & Anna Murdoch (1999)

What do you get when two people with a substantial net worth decide to divorce? The outcome is a monumental divorce settlement! In 1999, after 32 years of marriage, and three children (Elisabeth, Lachlan and James) Rupert and Anna divorced, with Anna receiving $1.7 billion in assets. Yes, you red that correctly! $1.7 BILLION not million. But don’t worry, Rupert dusted himself off, and re-married 17 days later with Wendi Deng who is 30 years his junior. He must have a great personality!
