Many of us might not be able to travel right now, but HBO comedy series THE WHITE LOTUS on Foxtel Now and BINGE is here to remind us that luxury getaways aren’t always the solution to escaping life’s problems. Set within an exclusive resort in Hawaii, this six-part dark satire sees a group of wealthy and entitled holiday-makers bringing their baggage along with them in more ways than one. There’s high-powered executive Nicole (played by Connie Britton) unable to leave her work behind, her husband Mark (Steve Zahn) struggling with a health scare, and the strange relationship between their college-age daughter Olivia (Sydney Sweeney) and the friend she’s brought along, Paula (Brittany O’Grady). Jennifer Coolidge plays Tanya, grieving her mother’s recent death and finding comfort in the treatments of spa manager, Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) - while Shane (Jake Lacy) is so preoccupied with tormenting the tortured resort manager Armond (Murray Bartlett) for booking him into the wrong room that he’s alienating his new wife, Rachel (Alexandra Daddario).
Joshua Jackson, Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater star in the shocking true-crime drama series, DR. DEATH - with all eight episodes streaming now, only on Stan. Based on the popular podcast of the same name, Jackson plays magnetic young neurosurgeon Dr. Christopher Duntsch - who earned the titular nickname for permanently injuring and killing a number of patients who came to his Dallas, Texas practice for routine spinal surgeries. Baldwin and Slater portray fellow surgeons Robert Henderson and Randall Kirby, who became wise to his intentional malpractice and worked with criminal prosecutor Michelle Shughart (AnnaSophia Robb) to prevent him from causing any further damage to those who placed their delicate lives in his sociopathic hands. Want to delve even deeper into the story? Check out the four-part documentary series DR. DEATH: THE UNDOCTORED TRUTH also streaming now on Stan.
With the final episode streaming today, this weekend you can watch the entire delightfully quirky first season of THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY on Disney+. Based on the first in a series of popular young adult novels by Trenton Lee Stewart, the series stars Emmy winning comic actor Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development) as the uniquely eccentric Mr Benedict - as well as his identical twin, the suavely sinister Dr Curtain. When his brother hatches a plan to brainwash the world’s children into spreading misinformation, Mr Benedict - along with his colleague, Number Two (played by the enchantingly wacky Kristen Schaal) - assembles a team of four brilliantly-minded orphans to infiltrate the program and save the day. Together the very perceptive Reynie, memory champ Sticky, unconventional Constance and skillful Kate embark on a fantastical adventure to ensure the world’s sense of truthfulness and trust remains intact.
