From 15 September 2020, Telstra AirG Chat services are making important changes that will affect your usage of some or all of these services: Divas Chat, VIP Chat, Sports Chat, Music Chat, Movies Chat, Lifestyle Chat, and Gamer Chat. From 15 September 2020, these services will be closed and you will no longer be able to access your account.

Why is Telstra AirG Chat being closed?

With the majority of customers using smartphones, we have become more accustomed to using mobile internet and apps to communicate with friends and family in ways that are richer in detail and functionality.

What does it mean that Telstra is “closing” AirG Chat?

All AirG Chat services (Divas Chat, VIP Chat, Sports Chat, Music Chat, Movies Chat, Lifestyle Chat, and Gamer Chat) will be closed to Telstra users from 15 September 2020. This means you cannot access your account nor access the site from that date.

Where can I find alternative services to Telstra AirG Chat?

There are a number of alternative messaging and social networking services that are similar. Here are some options that could be used but note that these are not Telstra services. Fees, data charges and terms & conditions may also apply when using these services.

I am signed up to a Telstra AirG Chat service, how will my service be affected?

As a subscriber, you will continue to have access to the service up to and including 14 September 2020, unless you decide to cancel your subscription earlier.

What happens to all of my Chat messages and other content?

Your account remains in place on the service until 14 September 2020. After this date, your account will no longer be active. You will need to download and save any content you want to keep before 14 September 2020.

How do I save my content?

You will need to download and save any content you want to keep before 14 September 2020.

To save your photos:

1. Go to Profile, then My Photos

2. Open the photo you want to save and either:

a. If using a smartphone, hold-press on the photo until the menu appears

b. If using a non-smartphone, highlight the photo and press the menu key

3. Select “Save image”

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all photos you want to keep

When will I stop being charged for Telstra AirG Chat?

You won’t be charged for Telstra AirG Chat on your mobile bill for the period after 14 September 2020. You may also choose to cancel earlier in which case your charges will stop following the date of cancellation.

How can I cancel my Telstra AirG Chat subscription?

If you don’t plan to use your service and want to cancel before 15 September 2020;

1. On your phone, use the Chat links on the Telstra Media mobile homepage at http://m.bigpond.com. Ensure your Wi-Fi is turned off.

2. Go to “My Account”, then “My AirG Subscriptions”

3. Click “Cancel”

4. Confirm by clicking “Yes”
